Make Your Own Wedding Invitations & Print At Home

Making your own wedding invitations can save you time and money.

Whether you want to customize your invitation, or want to make sure you don't go over your wedding budget, creating and printing your own wedding invitations is a great idea. Following a few tips will help you to complete this portion of the wedding preparation in no time.

Instructions

1. Choose the design(s) you want to include on your wedding invitation. You can choose from Web images that can be copied onto your computer paper free of charge, or take a look at previous wedding invitations that you've received for design inspiration. Select designs that are attractive and make your invitation stand out, but not so elaborate or large that it covers the invitation wording.

2. Visit the local craft or stationery store for printable invitations. Discount department stores like Target and Walmart are likely to have the paper varieties that you need. If you don't find the designs you're looking for, search online for invitation paper--sites like Invitationpaper.com will provide you with sample pictures of paper to choose from before you buy.

3. Create the invitation in Microsoft Word. Most computers come with this program, and it's easy to format the invitation and wording using this word processing tool. Open a new document in Word, then go to the "File" menu and select "Page Setup." Decide whether you want the invitations to be "Landscape" or "Portrait" style--the Microsoft Word terms for horizontal and vertical. Go the "Paper Size" menu to select your invitation paper size before adding the wording.

4. Center-justify the page, and select the font you want to use. Type the words of the invitation, and don't forget to include the full address of the wedding location, along with the complete date of the ceremony. Save the document frequently so that you work will not be lost.

5. Print one invitation to see how the rest will look. Make any necessary edits (i.e. changing the font, altering the position of the words) before printing the rest of the invites. Add you own special touches to the invitations, such as satin bows, or lace borders with a hot glue gun, after the documents have printed for more originality.
