Organize A Teenage Party

Hosting parties is a great way to ensure your teenagers get quality time with their friends, while maintaining parental responsibility.

Teenagers may be the hardest and most mercurial people to plan parties for, but there are many options when trying to celebrate with your young adults. Whether planning for girls or guys, there are things you'll need to keep in mind, including theme, location, cost and age-appropriateness. Parties for younger teens will be vastly different than those for high school juniors and seniors -- what's fun for 13-year-old girls will be different than 17-year-olds. But there are some things you can do to ensure a successful event. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Determine your teen's interests. If your 15-year-old girl is into rock music, plan a rock-themed party. For a 16- or 17-year-old girl who is into fashion, a makeover or manicure-pedicure party may be a great idea. Identify a theme, if your teen wants one. Younger teenage boys may be more into a video game theme, whereas older teen boys may just want to hang out all night watching movies.

2. Determine where you want to hold the party. If you don't want extensive clean-up at your home, consider an outsourced event such as a spa. This will minimize how much you need to clean up at home, and provide a fun and distinct experience.

3. Set your budget. Some events, such as a Quinceanera, Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah or Sweet 16 are milestone events and may involve big budgets. A weekend football victory party could be as simple as ordering a few pizzas and bottles of soda.

4. Create your menu. For birthdays, you want cake and ice cream, but consider other items for different teen parties. Depending on your teen's theme, you can choose pizza, grilling burgers and a vegetarian snack sampler.
