Wearing flowers in your hair in Hawaii captures the Aloha spirit.


The Aloha state is known for its wide variety of gorgeous tropical flowers. Historically, the women have worn flowers in their hair for festive occasions or even for an every day natural style. According to Hawaiian lore, wearing a flower on the left side signifies you are married or taken and wearing a flower on the right side means you are single and looking. There are a variety of flowers to wear in your hair in Hawaii, but a few of the most popular include hibiscus, gardenia and plumeria. Instructions


1. Cut the stem of a large orchid like Cymbidium orchid off about three inches below the bloom.


2. Wrap the stem with floral tape. This will ensure that any liquids that may leak out of the flower won't get into your hair.


3. Insert the bloom into your hair, behind one ear. Attach the stem tightly with hair pins.


4. Mist the bloom lightly to ensure it stays fresh.
