Ideas For A Party With Barbie As The Island Princess

Hawaiian leis make beautiful party favors and island decor.

Using Barbie as the island princess guest of honor at a party is an interesting way to teach young girls about island foods, cultures and dress. You can use any type of party supplies that are appropriate for a Hawaiian luau or Caribbean festivity. Have each guests bring her own Barbie in fashionable island attire to add to the frivolity. Does this Spark an idea?

Party Decorations

Buy some Hawaiian leis to use as party favors and decorations. Make sure you have a tiny one with special flowers for Barbie to wear since she is the guest of honor at the party. Use faux coconut shells for your favorite party punch or real ones to set around as island decor. A floral tablecloth will complete the island theme.

Activities

Use a broomstick or a long pole to have a limbo contest; this is sure to bring giggles and smiles to all the party attendees. Encourage the party guests to have a hula-hoop contest to see who can last the longest. Play tropical music to provide a lovely beat so that Barbie and all her party guests can dance and act silly to their hearts content. Water fun is always appropriate at an island party; a kid-size pool or a sprinkler is all you need to reap gales of laughter.

Party Favors

Apply temporary flower tattoos to all the party guests' arms. You can use a tiny flower sticker to allow Barbie in on the fun. Give each guest a new sundress or other Hawaiian apparel for her own Barbie in a goody bag and fill it with tropical flavored hard candy.

Island Party Food

Serve delicious fruit kabobs with pineapples, chunks of mango, bananas and cherries as healthy party snacks. Use a volcano cake as your dessert for the island party. Simply bake a bundt cake, fill the center with vanilla ice cream scoops and pour cherry pie filling over the creation.
