Word Anniversary Luau Invitations

Anniversary luau invitations can set the stage for the fun celebration.

Whether the anniversary is the first or 50th, it's a very special occasion, and celebrating with a luau makes it also a fun and relaxed celebration. As with any invitation, the wording on the anniversary luau invitations sets the tone for the event and is the first impression most guests receive. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Write in a style and tone that befits the occasion. While the wording on anniversary invitations is often formally written in third person, a luau is a very informal party, so strive for a happy medium -- a style and tone that reflects the anniversary luau's anticipated ambiance. For example, instead of "John and Jane Jones request your presence at the celebration of their 20th wedding anniversary," write something with a more informal tone, such as: "Share mai tais with us as we celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary Hawaiian style." If you prefer third person, still try for a tone that reflects the fun occasion, such as: "John and Jane Jones invite you to share a night of mai tais and aloha at the luau celebration of their 20th anniversary."

Siblings hosting a parents' anniversary luau might write: "Join us for a luau celebrating our parents' 20 years of marriage" or "Bill and Mary Jones invite you to join them under the tiki torches for a celebration of their parents' 20 years of marriage."

2. Create wording that refers to the couple's love for each other and their appreciation of the invited guest. For example, "Because you are so important to our parents, we want you to share in our celebration of their 30 years of romance."

3. Include all of the basics, as well as information relevant to an anniversary luau. Provide the time (beginning, and if you wish, the ending time), date and place, Mention the anniversary year so that guests may find gifts following the theme for a given year, such as sapphire jewels or something in the color of sapphire blue for the 45th.

Encourage guests to wear Hawaiian or otherwise tropical or summery attire. Write something like this: "Suggested Attire: Informal tropical."

Follow Emily Post's cue and include all names of those in the home are invited. If more than one child, you may follow the parents names with "and children." Invite single guests to bring a friend; this isn't required etiquette, but it is a nice gesture. (Ref 2)

Provide the names of the hosts or sign the invitation if hosting your own celebration.

4. Add towards the bottom an "RSVP" or "Regrets Only," depending on whether you want all to notify you or only those who won't be attending. Follow with a phone number and email address.

5. Since a luau is an informal and fun event, you might add playful wording such as, "Suggested Attire: Anything tropical and casual. Ties will be replaced with lei at the door." If you do add fun touches to the invitation wording, only include that which reflects the anniversary couple's style.
