Throw the ultimate, organized sweet 16 bash
Turning 16 is a milestone event in a young person's life. It means driving a car without parents, staying out a little later with friends and only a couple more years until graduation, college and the life that lies ahead. Celebrate this momentous occasion by throwing a sweet 16 party that will go down in history. The key to throwing this perfect bash is finalizing the plans well in advance of the party, preparing the menu ahead of time and allowing the teenager to have fun with her friends. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Ask the soon to be 16-year-old what she wishes for the theme of the party. Having the teen's input will help ensure that the party is a success.
2. Prepare the invitations with the pertinent information, such as the date, time and location of the party and have them addressed and in the mail three weeks before the day of the event. This gives the guests adequate time to RSVP.
3. Plan the food around the celebrant's favorite dishes. Have the Chinese restaurant in town cater the event if the teenager enjoys spring rolls. Prepare the food yourself to save money or if home cooking is the teenager's favorite.
4. Plan the activities for the party around two weeks before the event. Planning the games early will give adequate time to shop for any supplies needed.
5. Order the cake about two weeks before the party. Do not give the teenager a cake with a childish theme. Instead, choose a cake that is more sophisticated and mature.
6. Purchase the decorations for the party a few days before the event.Plan the decorations around the number 16 with a "Sweet 16" banner, balloon bouquets that are constructed from 16 balloons and a large "16" pinata for the smaller children at the party. Confirm the date if you've made reservations at a banquet hall or pizzeria. Call any guests who did not RSVP so the final count can be tabulated.
7. Prepare the food for the party the day before the affair. This is not needed if the party will be catered.
8. Decorate the space the night before the party. Hang streamers, blow up balloons and set out party favors now so less work will need to be done on the day of the party. Set out party favors that are centered around the biggest event in a 16-year-old's life: driving. Favors could include miniature cars, driving gloves and car wash tokens.
9. Allow the 16-year-old to drive to the party if she has gotten her license. This let her feel more grown up on this big day.
10. Give the 16-year-old a gift that deals with cars. A car is the ideal gift, but less expensive options include gas money, gift certificates for use of the family car and a copy of the insurance statement that has the teenager's name included.
11. Stand back and allow the 16-year-old and her friends to have fun.
