Word Birthday Bash Invites

The right invitations make all the difference.

A birthday is an important milestone and deserves a special celebration. Throwing a party for a close friend or family member is a great way to show how much you care but, as the party host, you need to make sure the invitations get sent out in time. You also need to make sure the invitations are worded properly and that they provide guests with what they need to know. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Specify whether or not the birthday bash is a surprise. Planning a surprise party is complicated and, in order to pull it off, all the guests need to know that the party is a surprise. You can reinforce the surprise nature of the party by putting "Shh--Don't Tell" in large colorful letters on the front of the invitation.

2. Make sure you let guests know if a milestone birthday, like a 21st, 40th or 50th, is being celebrated. When creating the invitations, you can have fun by saying something like "Don't look now, but Joe's turning 50."

3. Clearly give the date, day of the week and time of the party. If you're planning a more formal dinner party, advise about appropriate dress. If it will be very informal and you'd like guests to bring food, include wording on the invitations such as, "Bring your favorite treat to share."

4. Provide a complete address where the celebration will take place; you could, for instance, say "Join us at 125 Maple Street in Johnstown." Include a small map to guide guests to the party for those not familiar with the area or who may be coming from out of town.

5. Add an RSVP in the corner along with your name, phone number and/or email address, so you'll have a better idea of how many guests to plan for.
