When you are finished grilling, your food should look as delicious as it tastes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Preheat the grill. If you use a charcoal grill, light the briquettes and wait until they become completely gray. If you use a gas grill, light the grill and turn it to "High" for about five minutes.

2. Brush vegetables lightly with olive oil prior to grilling them. Marinating the meats will impart extra flavor to the dish, but is not required for making grill marks.

3. Reduce a gas grill's heat to "Medium High," and arrange the briquettes in a flat layer in the bottom of the grill to achieve slightly less heat.

4. Place the meat or vegetables onto the hot grill grate with the tops of the meat or vegetables pointing to the 10 o'clock position on the grill.

5. Leave the foods on the grill for two minutes.

6. Lift the foods with the tongs and place them back down on the same side facing the 2 o'clock position on the grill.

7. Leave the foods on the grill for two minutes

8. Flip the foods over with the tongs and place them back down on the opposite side so that the tops of the foods point to the 10 o'clock position on the grill.

9. Leave the foods on the grill for two minutes.

10. Lift the foods with the tongs and place them back down on the same side at the 2 o'clock position on the grill.

11. Leave the foods on the grill until the foods finish cooking to your desired doneness. Many vegetables are probably finished cooking after four minutes. When grilling meat, check the inside temperature of the item with the meat thermometer to determine if it is finished cooking.
