Swords and sword fighting have always been an intriguing aspect of our past. For some, there is nothing more enjoyable than to kick back and enjoy a swashbuckling adventure on television involving sword fighting. But for most of us, we have absolutely no idea go about using a two-handed sword. These easy steps will help you to get better at your sword fighting skills when sparring with a two-handed sword.
Instructions
1. Set up a roomy practice area. You will need a room of decent size that provides ample space for you to be able to hone your two-handed sword fighting skills. A bedroom that is clear of any major objects will do the job nicely.
2. Get used to the weight of the sword. Two-handed swords require two hands because they are far heavier than the traditional one-handed saber. When you hold a two-handed sword you are supposed to use your guiding hand (left or right) at the top of the handle. Underneath the guiding hand, place your other hand so you have a firm grip of the sword.
3. Practice hacks and parries on your sparring dummy. Set up a practice dummy in your practice room; you can get one at most martial arts stores. Using your two-handed sword, practice hacks by holding your sword up high above your head and slicing it downward at the dummy. Practice parries by hacking with your sword sideways at the dummy. It will take some time to build up the arm strength and get used to the weight of the sword.
4. Become the next sword fighting master. Practice will ultimately make you perfect. It is advised that you take sword fighting lessons to better hone your skills as a sword master.
