Plan A Fundraising Lunch

Sandwiches are ideal for fundraiser lunches because they are easy to make.

Many types of organizations, such as nonprofits, clubs and social groups, use fundraisers to acquire money for projects, events or equipment. Fundraising strategies include car washes, raffles and book sales, and almost every method has the potential to be successful. Fundraiser lunches can encourage community togetherness, promote awareness for a cause or project, and raise the money necessary to fulfill the goals of the group hosting the lunch.

Instructions

1. Select a date and time for your fundraiser lunch. Make sure that this date and time works with the schedules of your volunteers. Determine what food items you would like to sell at your fundraiser lunch. Try to choose foods, drinks, and snacks or desserts that don't need to be frozen or heated up and that are relatively inexpensive.

2. Contact grocers, vendors and food distributors, explain to them why you are raising funds, and ask them to donate food or drink items for your event.

3. Choose a location for your fundraiser. The location should be an easy one for people to stop by and should be accessible to curious or hungry passersby; a public place, possibly outdoors, may be a good idea. If you hope to hold your fundraiser on someone's property, be sure to ask permission beforehand.

4. Advertise your fundraiser through flyers, the web, radio or newspapers. The advertisement should explain what the fundraiser is for, what will be sold, and where and when it will be held.

5. Set up tables and chairs at the location of your fundraiser. This will encourage customers to relax and eat and will draw more attention to your event. Make sure that the tables and chairs are clean and attractive; designate someone to keep them clean throughout the fundraiser.

6. Set up signs directing people to your fundraiser lunch. Also, make it clear how much the lunch costs by posting signs near the food and keeping your volunteers informed. Those handling money should have access to change for convenience and expediency. Have greeters ready to welcome potential customers and to explain why you are raising funds.

7. Make sure that your volunteers practice good hygiene and are friendly during your fundraiser. Set up trash cans and recycling bins for an easier cleanup. Be sure to mention those who donated food and supplies during the event.
