Troubleshoot A Greenlee Bender 555

Metal workshops have many types of equipment used to bend and shape metal or other rigid material. One piece of equipment that does this is a Greenlee Textron bender. The Greenlee Deluxe Electrical Bender, also called a 555, is an electrical conduit bender offered with a vast array of available attachments. It plugs into a standard wall outlet. A common problem experienced with a Greenlee-Textron-brand electric bender is motor function failure when using the bend switch or the unload switch.

Instructions

No Motor Functions

1. Verify that the power cord for the bender is plugged into a wall outlet.

2. Open the circuit panel to see if the breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown. Reset a tripped breaker or replace a blown fuse.

3. Verify that the breaker on the bender has not been tripped. Push the lever for the breaker to the left, then to the right, to reset it.

4. Turn the "Bend" or "Unload" switch to the "On" position to see if the motor will turn on.

Replace Control Module

5. Remove the screws for the front cover with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Take the cover off and set it aside.

6. Disconnect the 15-pin connector plug from the circuit board.

7. Find and remove the six mounting screws that are used to secure the circuit board. Pull the board out of the housing.

8. Insert a new board into the housing and tighten the six mounting screws. Connect the 15-pin connector to the circuit board.

9. Set the front cover back in place and secure it by tightening the screws.
