Flip-flop invitations emulate the shape and style of casual beachwear.
In our fast-paced, digital world, many people now prefer instant, electronic party invitations to old-style paper ones. However, you can still recapture the fun of physical invitations that you can hold in your hand with your own one-of-a-kind colorful creations. Flip-flop invitations provide a bright reminder of an upcoming party because they emulate the sights and feel of summer. Because of their colorful, vibrant appearance, flip-flop invitations serve as an excellent option for barbecues, pool parties or beach bonfires.
Instructions
1. Place a sheet of card stock on a flat surface such as a table. Draw a 7 1/2-by-5 inch box on the paper.
2. Cut the box out of the paper and set it aside.
3. Draw the flip-flop shape on a sheet of card stock. The shape should be about 6 1/2-inches long and 5-inches wide. Ideally, this sheet of card stock should contrast with the original sheet. For example, if your box consisted of blue card stock, use orange card stock for the flip flop.
4. Cut out the flip-flop shape.
5. Press a hole over the top edge of the flip-flop shape in the center with a hole-punch.
6. Cut out two 3-inch long strands of ribbon. Turn the flip-flop over and place a drop of glue on the right edge, near the middle of the edge. Press the edge of the ribbon against the drop of glue so that the inside of the ribbon touches the glue. Grasp the free end of the ribbon and slide it through the hole at the center of the flip-flop. Repeat the process on the left edge of the flip-flop.
7. Place a drop of glue just beneath the hole, on the back side of the flip-flop. Press the ribbon into the glue.
8. Set the sheet of card stock in front of you. Place a few drops of glue along the edges of the back side of the flip-flop. Press the flip-flop into the sheet of card stock.
9. Turn over the invitation. Write the party details on the blank side of the card stock using a marker. Write the name of the guest below the party details.
