Create Halloween bingo cards.
Bingo involves matching numbered balls to matching numbers on a specific player's card, but for younger players who cannot quickly match the numbers, a picture-styled bingo game may be more suitable. Adding a holiday theme to a bingo game will also make the game more festive and educate players about different symbols for Halloween. Creating the bingo cards is a simple process and they will last for years of Halloween celebrations. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Write down a list of different Halloween symbols or pictures you can use for the bingo cards. Each card has 25 different spaces and you will want variety among the cards, so create a list of 30 to 40 different Halloween symbols. These can include a pumpkin, mummy, witch, candy corn, flashlight, haunted house, gravestone, skull, ghost and many more.
2. Use colored markers to draw out each symbol on a separate index card. The index cards are used to draw the symbols while actually playing the game. They will be shuffled each time and cards are drawn and displayed to call the symbol. Make sure the marker does not bleed through to give away the symbol.
3. Cut 10 sheets of cardstock paper in half down the horizontal side. This will give you 20 bingo cards to create.
4. Use a ruler and a pencil to create a five-row by five-row square grid. Leave room at the top of the grid to write the word "bingo."
5. Trace over the pencil lines with a black marker. Use the ruler to guide over the lines so no mistakes occur. You can also use an orange or red marker for more festive grid lines on the bingo cards.
6. Write out the word "BINGO" on the top of the card. Use letter stencils for more professional looking cards, or simply draw it free hand. Turn the "O" into an orange pumpkin or Jack O'Lantern to continue the Halloween theme
7. Draw in objects on each card. Remember not to use any objects twice on the same card. Label the center square as the free space. Try to match the pictures as close as possible to the index card drawings. Use the same colors and design.
8. Repeat the process for every card. Try to keep the cards as random as possible so every bingo card is different. Choose objects from the index pile randomly to assure that every card is different.
9. Laminate the bingo cards to protect them and keep the ink from fading or smearing. If you do not have access to a laminating machine, cover the cards with clear packing tape to protect them.
10. Use pieces of candy corn to mark the cards while playing. You can also use pennies, buttons or other small objects from around the house.
