Inexpensive Wedding Party Favor Ideas

Wedding favors don't have to cost a fortune.

While a wedding is a celebration of the bride and groom's love for each other, couples often want to send a little gift home with their guests to show their appreciation and to give the guests a keepsake. While some wedding favors can be quite expensive, you do not have to break the bank to give your guests a little special something.

Candy

Sweet treats are always a big hit, so consider using candy for wedding favors. One idea is to place a couple of chocolate kisses in the bowl of a plastic spoon, wrap the bowl with tulle in one of the bridal colors and tie this off with a piece of satin ribbon. Add a printed tag that reads "A Spoonful of Kisses from the Mr. and Mrs." and add the wedding date underneath. You can also order candy-coated chocolates or jelly beans in wedding colors and fill small jars with the candies. Add a personalized label if you wish.

Cupcakes and Cookies

For an elegant looking cupcake, turn unfrosted cupcakes upside down, and cover them with fondant. Add silk flowers or nonpareils to make them look like miniature wedding cakes. You could also frost the cupcakes in one of the wedding colors and add a personalized, printed label to the baking cup.

Cookies also make delicious, yet inexpensive, wedding favors. Choose cookies in the bride and groom's favorite flavors, wrap them in tissue paper in the wedding colors and place them in small gift boxes. Tie the boxes with a satin ribbon and add a personalized label. Fortune cookies are another idea that won't cost a fortune. Available at many party shops, you can buy fortune cookies dipped in chocolate or colored frosting. Individually wrap these cookies in small gift boxes with printed labels.

Useable Items

Candles are a more lasting option than an edible wedding favor and can be inexpensive. Choose votive candles in wedding colors and place them in clear glass votive holders. Add a label with the names of the bride and groom and the date, and tie a personalized matchbook to the holder with a satin ribbon.

Miniature soaps are another option to consider. Choose small soaps in heart or flower shapes and in colors that match the wedding color scheme. Consider soaps with fragrances such as lavender or vanilla. Place the soaps in small gift boxes or in mesh bags with satin ties and add a personalized label.
