Use garnishing that matches the theme of your party.
Garnishes add greenery to any table centerpiece or food trays displayed on the table. Most types of garnishing such as parsley, leeks and cabbage leaves add to the color and appeal of fruit and vegetable trays. Place these little additions around the border of the food on the tray, or in random places in between vegetables. You can also use flowers, traditional leaves, artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes and other chopped foods as garnishing. Some garnishes work best on a food tray while other garnish decor looks best directly on the table. Does this Spark an idea?
Rose Bud Garnishing
Use rose bud garnishing to add softness and color to your table. Choose bright yellow or pink roses for a spring party and red and white roses for a more formal event. Pluck the petals from the buds and sprinkle these around the border of your table centerpiece. The centerpiece can include any decor such as a vase full of roses, candles or a sculpture. Place seven or more different colored whole rose buds around the vase as extra garnishes. You can also use roses to add more elegance to food trays. Put pink rose buds around a tray full of chocolate-dipped strawberries, brownies or other desserts.
Daisy Borders
Use green leaves and daisy flower heads to create borders around table centerpieces, food trays or even plates on the table. Use real or silk daisies, depending on your preferences. Choose from plain white, pink, purple or exotic daisy species, such as African daisies. African daisy heads have a larger circumference than traditional daisies. Simple white daisies with green leaf garnishes can really add a more floral appeal to a spring event or little girl's birthday party.
Fall Tables
Use fall flowers and leaves to make your Thanksgiving or fall table more appealing. Place silk or real fall leaves around food trays and centerpieces. Add additional decor such as acorns, rocks and small pumpkins. Dress up your table with fall flowers such as sunflowers along with orange, white and cream roses. Food garnishes such as carrot swirls, tomatoes and parsley work with food served during this time.
Cabbage Heads
Cabbage heads make decorative garnishing and even full table centerpieces. Look for baby cabbage heads or full sized florets. Some cabbages look similar to roses. Choose from traditional green cabbage or buy ornamental purple and red cabbage for a fall table. Place the heads on the center of food trays and adorn the rest of the tray with food. A large cabbage head in the center of a table surrounded by smaller heads also works well as table decor.
