Your wedding is one of the most memorable days of your life. Providing flowers for your wedding and reception can take a major chunk out of your budget. You can make beautiful flowers to decorate your wedding with tissue paper. Tissue paper flowers are delicate looking and will add lovely decorative accents to a wedding at any time of year. Enlist an assembly line of friends to help fold and shape the flowers, as you will probably want a large number of them for your wedding decorations.
Instructions
1. Create a stack of eight pieces of tissue paper to make one flower. Each tissue paper sheet should measure 20 inches by 30 inches. Choose white or off-white sheets to match your gown or colors to match your wedding theme or your bridesmaids' dresses.
2. Fold the tissue paper stack accordion-style: fold the narrow edge under in a 1 1/2 inch width, fold the next 1 1/2 inches of tissue paper up, and repeat until you reach the other end of the sheet.
3. Cut a piece of florist wire with wire cutters into an 18-inch length.
4. Fold the wire in half and place it around the middle of the folded tissue papers, according to Martha Stewart. Twist the wire securely.
5. Clip the ends of the tissue paper with scissors by making diagonal cuts along the edges to create points on both ends.
6. Spread the paper out by grasping each layer of tissue paper and gently pulling on it until it is separated from the other folds.
7. Shape the tissue folds until the overall look resembles a dahlia flower.
8. Wrap florist tape around the two loose wires to create a stem. Gather the flowers to decorate the ends of pews, hang them from the ceiling with clear fishing line or use them in centerpieces at the wedding reception.
